Colonoscopy: Prevention Starts Here

A colonoscopy is a safe, effective way to detect and prevent colon cancer. This procedure allows doctors to examine your colon and remove precancerous polyps before they become serious. At Carle Health, our specialists use the latest technology to ensure your experience is as comfortable and accurate as possible.

Why Screening Matters
While colon cancer is preventable, the American Cancer Society shares that colorectal cancer is the second most common cause of cancer deaths. Screening with colonoscopy allows for treatment of polyps and prevention of cancer. Colonoscopy is the gold standard for colon cancer screening, with higher sensitivity and prevention rates than stool testing.

When to Get Screened
  • Start regular screenings at age 45.
  • Continue through age 75.
  • After 75, screening is based on your provider’s recommendation.
If you have additional risk factors, you may need to start earlier. Call today to schedule your screening colonoscopy: (309) 268-6770
