Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a complex type of heart disease that affects the heart muscle. HCM causes thickening of the heart muscle, left ventricular stiffness, mitral valve changes as well as cellular changes.
The Carle HVI Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Program includes a multidisciplinary team dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of HCM in individuals and family members. We bring together heart doctors from Cardiovascular Medicine, Cardiothoracic Surgery and Pediatric Cardiology with expertise in diagnostic testing, medical management, interventional and surgical procedures for patients with obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
