Carle BroMenn Medical Center

The Mother Baby Unit at Carle BroMenn Medical Center offers expectant moms the highest level of quality care in a warm, supportive atmosphere.

Tours of the unit are offered on Wednesdays starting promptly at 5:30 p.m. No registration is necessary. Please meet at the front entrance of the obstetrics unit.

If you believe you are in labor please call your provider’s office (if it is during office hours) or contact us at (309) 268-5235.

A nurse will be able to help you determine the best time and place for evaluation, which could be in your provider’s office or at the hospital. When you are arriving at the hospital, you may use the obstetrics entrance, located just before you reach the main entrance to the hospital.

Mother Baby Unit

Our unit features:

  • Spacious, private rooms for labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum care.
  • Nurse to patient ratios that ensure we are always there for you and your baby.
  • Pain management options, including medications, birthing ball, a whirlpool tub, nitrous oxide and epidural anesthesia.
  • An intermediate care nursery equipped to care for babies as young as 32 weeks gestation with neonatology services on-site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Flexible visiting hours (except when limited by flu season or other medically indicated restrictions).
  • Comfortable seating and fold-out beds in the room for your support person.
  • In-room exclusive quality time with your baby from the moment of birth through discharge.
  • Hugs® newborn security system.
  • Internationally board-certified lactation consultants, certified lactation counselors and certified breastfeeding counselors.
  • Ongoing education during your stay on how to care for yourself and your baby once you leave the hospital.

Before your baby's birth, you can fill out this birth certificate worksheet, then print and bring it in to BroMenn. This will help ensure your baby's birth certificate is filled out properly when it's sent to the state.
