Carle celebrated the start of construction on its new medical campus today with a groundbreaking ceremony held at the site in Danville, Ill.
The new facility, Carle at The Riverfront, will consolidate services currently at Carle Danville on Fairchild and Carle Danville on Vermilion and host more than 250 team members from these locations.
James C. Leonard, MD, president and CEO of Carle Health, spoke to ceremony attendees and shared the impact of this facility on members of the Danville and Vermilion County community.
“Carle has been part of this community for almost 40 years and this medical campus will allow us to provide a modern, comprehensive facility supporting the needs of our patients in the area,” he said. “The Medical Office Building and Ambulatory Surgery Center facilities will host more than 30 services, extending access to advanced care and specialty services not currently available in the community. This is an exciting time for Danville and Vermilion County and we appreciate the support of the people of Danville and Vermilion County and the trust they’ve put in us to provide healthcare solutions in the community.”
This highly anticipated $70 million project is one of the largest in Vermilion County in 50 years. Together the Medical Office Building and Ambulatory Surgery Center comes to approximately 152,000 square feet on 17 acres of land.
The location, near Vermilion Museum, will integrate public transport hubs within the campus and provide retail and commercial improvement to the area.
“Today is a great day in our community,” Timothy Meneely, DO, senior vice president and medical director of Vermilion County said. “There is a need in Vermilion County and the benefits this facility brings will allow us to continue to serve this community and those who live here. We are here because of the culmination of efforts of many who provided unfailing support.”
