Carle BroMenn Medical Center and Carle Foundation Hospital have received recognition for commitment to exceptional stroke care by the American Heart Association (AHA)/American Stroke Association (ASA). Carle’s innovative technology, leading edge medical facilities and techniques and continued commitment to the highest quality patient care again positions the organization to receive acknowledgement for
outstanding care.
Both Carle BroMenn and Carle Foundation Hospital have received the following designations:
To receive these designations, Carle met strict quality achievement measures in diagnosing and treating stroke patients. This includes proper medication and treatment, reducing death, quick recovery and limiting disability because of stroke. Carle also demonstrated a commitment to educating patients and the community as well as timely follow up and simple transitional care for stroke patients.
“We are committed to keeping our community healthy and providing better outcomes for our patients every single day,” Amrendra Miranpuri, MD, endovascular neurosurgeon and stroke specialist with Carle Health said. “When we receive recognition such as these, it only further proves that when you come to Carle you are receiving the best in stroke care. The Get with the Guidelines program allows us to better track these important guidelines and ensure every patient is receiving the highest quality care.”
To receive AHA’s Target: Stroke Honor Role EliteSM awards, Carle Foundation Hospital and Carle BroMenn Medical Center also met strict quality measures in the time between patient arrival to the hospital and their treatment. This time can be critical in ensuring the ability to take lifesaving measures for each stroke patient. With accredited stroke centers in both Normal and Urbana, Carle features a comprehensive system for rapid diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients admitted to the emergency department. When minutes matter, Carle’s team of stroke experts are ready and equipped with the necessary tools and resources to effectively treat stroke.
"We are pleased to recognize Carle BroMenn and Carle Foundation Hospital for their commitment to cardiovascular care,” Lee H. Schwamm, MD, national chairperson, AHA Quality Oversight Committee said. “Research has shown that hospitals adhering to clinical measures through the American Heart Association’s quality improvement programs often see fewer readmissions and lower mortality rates.”
